Museumcafé

In the museum café 'Vijven & Zessen' you can put down a card or chat about a visit to the museum over a coffee or a soft drink.

The word "café" may be a bit misleading. We are currently still working with self-service. On special occasions, the museum provides service and a more extensive range. It is a cozy space that can be used for all kinds of activities: a place to rest, a place where you can chat (literally and figuratively), where students eat their sandwiches, where the collectors' fair is housed or where a card tournament is settled.

The location has the ambition to also become a connecting factor for a neighborhood committee, an informal meeting or a classroom for beginning bridge players. In short, a meeting place.

Fives & Sixes

The café was given the name 'Fives & Sixes', a term that is probably derived from playing dice. There is a similar expression in English, which is 'at sixes and sevens'. Originally the meaning was: the careless or casual gamble of your bet. Isn't it ideal for a cafe of a Playing Cards Museum?
Opening hours

For the time being, 'Fives & Sixes' follows the opening hours of the museum:

  • Tuesday to Friday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m
  • Closed on Mondays

Thanks to 'Turnhout Wereldcentrum van de Speelkaart', the circle of friends of the museum.
